Seasick, Stung, and Smitten

My first trip on the Flying Cloud, I stepped on a sea urchin and one of the crew told me to soak my foot in urine, so I had my husband pee into a bowl; then soaked my foot. It worked.

I was also quite seasick, hadn’t counted on that. One of the passengers had an extra Dramamine Patch, which helped a lot. One would have thought that those two negative experiences would have “soured” me on tall ship sailing, quite the contrary, I LOVED it! Went on 7 more voyages (Yankee Clipper twice, Legacy twice, Polynesia, Mandalay twice).
